Joondalup Health Campus

Joondalup Health Campus expansion as part of a $393m redevelopment program which delivered extensive new facilities for public and private patients. The new facilities have significantly expanded the range and breadth of clinical services offered at Joondalup, which will ensure many more patients can receive hospital care much closer to home instead of having to travel to other hospitals. Construction started in September 2009 and finished in early 2013.

The State Government is investing $229.8m to deliver:

  • Additional public beds – up from 280 to 451 in 2013
  • New Emergency Department (opened in February 2011)
  • Expanded Special Care Nursery (opened August 2011)
  • St John Ambulance depot (opened in 2011)
  • 12 new operating theatres replacing the existing six (2012)
  • Expanded critical care unit (2012)
  • Child care centre (2013)
  • Significant new plant and equipment
  • Additional car parks for patients, visitors and staff

Ramsay Health Care is investing over $150m to deliver:

    • Cardiac vascular catheter laboratory (2012)
    • 145-bed private hospital (2013)
    • Additional specialist medical centre (2013)

In addition, a new Community Clinical School opened in 2013 as part of a unique partnership between Ramsay Health Care, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, the University of Western Australia and the Federal Government. Completed in 2013, the expanded campus is twice its size from 2009. There is over 650 beds across both public and private hospitals and with over 2800 staff employed by JHC.
